Marigold is October's flower.
Related closely to daisies, also calendula. But don't eat them! Calendula is edible, marigold is not. Two kinds, French and African. The French ones are smaller and stand up to windy conditions. The African variety are larger and are what you see throughout Mexico. Originally given to mark a special occasion or memory. Not only is the flower bright and bold with color, the Autumn season would not be the same without them.
